As a matter of fact, he unashamedly tells his congregation that he never owned shoes until he was eighteen years of age. What he possessed though were physical intangibles such as focus, consistency, diligence, ambition, a brilliant mind and a determination to succeed in life. In Enoch Adeboye was admitted into Ilesha Grammar School, Ilesha, Osun State, Western Nigeria and as a youth he discovered a passion for books, and an aptitude for science and in particular the field of Mathematics.

This led to an academic journey in the field of Mathematics against incredible odds including but not limited to finances, the Nigerian Civil War and academic politics. It did seem that his academic ambition would be realized as his academic career flourished. However, this was not to be as a greater career awaited him in the service of the Lord.

Enoch Adejare Adeboye (born 2 March ) is a Nigerian pastor, and the present General Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God. He served as the second national president of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria.

In , Pastor Adeboye was appointed as General Overseer of the church after the death of its founder the previous year. He bagan pastoring in a part time basis still continuing with his lecturing at the university. Pastor Adeboye however gave up lecturing in other to do the work of God full time. He transformed the church from what it was then and the church experienced massive growth and expansion after he took over.

The church now has branches in over a hundred countries with over 14, branches in Nigeria alone. Pastor Adeboye is the national president of the Redeemed Christian Fellowship RCF- an interdenominational fellowship in all the campuses in Nigeria which is under the umbrella of Christ the Redeemer's Ministry CRM where he serves as founder and president.
